It seems that every day brings more news about the changing climate and the effects these changes will have on our way of life. Even today, a UNESCO report has concluded that glaciers all around the world - including the last ones in Africa - will be "unavoidably lost by 2050 due to climate change".
Steve Waters' climate emergency double-bill, The Contingency Plan, is currently presenting these issues to Crucible audiences in two "compelling" (The Times) and "urgent" (The Guardian) plays, On The Beach and Resilience.
As part of the discussion surrounding the two productions, Magid Magid recently hosted a discussion between the creative team of The Contingency Plan and climate change experts.
Panellists Steve Waters (writer), Caroline Steinbeis and Chelsea Walker (directors), Robert Larter and Hamish Pritchard (British Antarctic Survey) and Ffion Mitchell (Marine Conservation Society) discussed the themes explored in the plays and the reality of our near future.
We are pleased to announce that the event is now available for everyone to see, via the Sheffield Theatres YouTube channel, until the end of the month.
