We today announce the launch of our Intergenerational Dementia Friendly Choir, due to run at the Crucible from September - November 2022.
The new Intergenerational Dementia Friendly Choir is an open invite to join together people living with Dementia and people who would like to learn more and offer support. Participants will be taught songs in a friendly, communal environment, with the aim for the choir to perform on the Lyceum stage to an audience of invited guests, including friends and family of the group.
We are proud to be a Dementia Friendly organisation and offers a programme of activities specially adapted to meet the needs of people living with dementia. From training actors to become Dementia Friends, to offering free singing workshops and hosting Dementia Friendly performances, we aim to support people living with Dementia to experience the joy of live theatre.
We also offer two fantastic opportunities to be part of the Intergenerational Dementia Friendly Choir: a Pianist a Choir Leader. Both roles are paid and will be based in Sheffield at the Crucible, where relevant Dementia Friend training will also be given.
