Casting Brief
Sheffield Theatres are seeking young, local children to play the part of
‘Tam’ - Son of Kim and Chris.
We are looking for a confident boy or girl of Southeast Asian heritage.
They must be aged 5 by 30 May 2023.
The character's age is 3, so we are interested in small, slight performers who can be easily carried and listen well to instruction.
No previous experience is required but an understanding that Theatre is pretend, is essential.
Multiple performers will be cast for the role, and they will perform on a rotational basis.
Please note anyone auditioning must be comfortable having their hair cut
into a short style.
All performers must live within a reasonable 45-minute journey of the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield where all performances will take place.

Audition details
Date: Tuesday 16 and Thursday 18 May 2023
Location: Crucible Theatre, 55 Norfolk Street, Sheffield, S1 1DA
Full registration details and contact numbers will be taken on the day.
The audition will be a small group workshop where participants will play games and take part in simple drama activities.
All auditionees must be dropped off and collected by a parent or guardian.
Commitment
Successful performers must be available and committed to attending the following times and dates:
- The auditions Tuesday 16 and Thursday 18 May
- Rehearsals between Tuesday 30 May to Friday 7 July
- Performances between Saturday 8 July - Saturday 19 Aug
- We envisaged that there will be 2-3 rehearsal sessions a week; however, a more detailed schedule will be available at the time of casting. During the final week of rehearsals this will increase to 4 - 5 sessions over the week.
- There will be full chaperone support throughout the rehearsal and performance period. Time off school will be required for certain rehearsals and matinee performances. Sheffield Theatres will apply for a local authority performance licence for rehearsal and performance, the application process will be explained once casting is complete.
- The part will be performed on a rotational basis between performers who are offered the role. Sheffield Theatres reserves the right to choose which performances the successful performers will appear in. A schedule of performances is available here.
