We launch our Intergenerational Dementia Friendly Choir this September through to November, offering an exciting opportunity for both young people aged between 10-14 and people living with dementia.
The new Intergenerational Dementia Friendly Choir is an open invite to join together people living with dementia and young people who would like to learn more and offer support. Free to attend, participants will be taught songs in a friendly, communal environment.
The choir will meet weekly at the Crucible on Saturdays 1.30pm - 3.30pm from 3 September - 12 November, ahead of a final performance on the Lyceum stage for an invited audience of friends and family on 12 November. A drop-in event runs at the Crucible on 6 August 1pm - 2.30pm for anyone interested in taking part.
We are proud to be a dementia-friendly organisation and offers a programme of activities specially adapted to meet the needs of people living with dementia. From training actors to become Dementia Friends, to offering free singing workshops and hosting dementia-friendly performances, we aim to support people living with dementia to experience the joy of live theatre.
For more information about the choir and other dementia-friendly work we do, please contact Access and Sales Supervisor, Paul at access@sheffieldtheatres.co.uk, or join the drop-in event at the Crucible on 6 August 1pm - 2.30pm.
