After a fun-filled festive season, we're celebrating one of our busiest Christmases, with 83,000 theatre-goers welcomed through the doors of the Crucible, Playhouse and Lyceum over December and January.
A record breaking audience enjoyed 2023-24’s pantomime Beauty and the Beast, Sheffield Theatres’ co-production withEvolution Productions. 53,000 people joined Duncan James (Blue), Jennie Dale (Cbeebies) and fond favourite dame Damian Williams and the cast for the festive period. With pantomime being a strong tradition for many families across Sheffield, 29,000 are already booked in for this year’s panto Snow White, opening on Friday 6 December 2024, with almost 50% of the tickets already snapped up.
Across the square White Christmas, directed by Paul Foster, proved a festive favourite, wowing audiences of all ages, and young ones visited A Town Called Christmas.
Tom Bird, Chief Executive of Sheffield Theatres, said:
“Christmas is always a hugely important time of year for us, so knowing that so many people chose to celebrate and spend their time with us over the festive period is fantastic, and testament to the hard work that our teams put into making these glittering productions. Our audiences are the beating heart of Sheffield Theatres; we couldn’t make the shows that we do without them, so knowing we have their support enables us to forge on with even more crowd-pleasers on our stages.”
