Applications are opening on Mon 15 July for artists to join The Bank Cohort for 2025. This opportunity is for writers, producers and directors/theatre-makers to be supported by us for the next evolution of the scheme, in order to develop their work. The Bank Cohort is our flagship talent development project, and we’re excited to welcome a fifth cohort of creatives to be supported by Sheffield Theatres.
The artists will be offered bespoke support, training, artistic opportunities and professional development. Writers will enjoy skills workshops, mentoring, paid time to write, and a workshop for an in-development idea. Producers will undertake skills workshops and mentoring, as well as receiving support and £1,000 of seed funding towards an in-development project. Directors/theatre-makers will benefit from skills workshops, mentoring, and the opportunity to work on a Sheffield Theatres production as an Assistant Director. In addition, the entire cohort will receive ongoing pastoral support, as well as invitations to creative and networking events.
Ruby Clarke, Artist Development Manager at Sheffield Theatres said:
“We’re thrilled to be putting together another group of local theatre makers for our next Bank Cohort. There is so much creative talent in our city and this process is one of the brilliant ways we get to learn more about our artists and their aims, passions and skills.
The Bank Cohort is an opportunity for us to work extensively with a group of artists over a significant period of time; fuelling and nurturing the development of ideas, working relationships, and new skills. Now in its fifth incarnation, The Bank Cohort is not just at the core of our Talent Development work at Sheffield Theatres, but is contributing more and more to our wider work, and other creative initiatives across our region.”
The Bank, which is located adjacent to the Crucible on Tudor Square, is a creative space for local artists and theatre makers to develop their work, skills, collaborations and careers with the support of the staff and creative teams at Sheffield Theatres. Supported artists are based in The Bank where they are able to access a Writers Room and library which offers a quiet space for artists to develop and write work, as well as a larger space for group work including research and development, rehearsals and scratch performances.
The Bank and artists are generously supported by Jo and Chris Hookway.
Applications are open on Monday 15 July. To apply to become part of The Bank Cohort for 2025 and for more information about the application process, please submit an application. The closing date for applications is Sunday 11 August 2024 at midnight.
