To help get South Yorkshire’s writers connected, motivated, and ready for the Women’s Prize for Playwriting 2025 we are hosting a Script Exchange Café at Sheffield Theatres.

What is the Script Exchange Café?

Send us your draft scripts and we’ll match you with another writer to exchange feedback at a cafe event at Sheffield Theatres on Thursday 13 March - where you’ll each receive a free hot drink!

We know from research led by the Support Playwrights Project that writers can struggle with motivation and connection, and we have been inspired to create the Script Exchange Café in part due to their leadership of last year’s national Playwrights Flashmob.

What to expect

After submitting your play for our Script Exchange Café you will receive someone else’s play and a little bit of information about what they’re looking for from the Exchange. We’re asking all submitting writers to give us this information so that we can do our best to match people based on their needs.

We’re inviting writers to then read these drafts in preparation for the Script Exchange Café event; where our team will be around to chat and help people find their Exchange Partners. Upon arrival, attendees for the Script Exchange Café will receive a voucher for a free hot drink at our Crucible Kitchen café.
