Rolling Residences
Rolling Residencies are for theatre creatives based locally to Sheffield Theatres who would benefit from space, structure, and funding in the development of a project or idea.
We are interested in supporting exciting projects and ideas at early stages of development. The Rolling Residencies are about giving artists resources to support them to reach the next step of their project. This “next step” might be the writing of a new draft of a script, working with collaborators to answer a key question, or getting a project up on its feet in a new way.

Updates for Rolling Residency Window 6
Increased Funding Pots
We are increasing the funding pots and we are introducing clearer guardrails and distinctions between the scales of residencies. We will be offering two pots of £600 (Injections) and two pots of £2,000 (Intensives).
Injections (£600 Funding Pots)
Injections are intended for smaller or early-in-development projects that would benefit from individual slow-making, working towards a deadline, or specific collaborative interventions.
Intensives (£2,000 Funding Pots)
Intensives are intended for bigger or further-in-development projects that would benefit from a focused week of activity in a rehearsal space at Sheffield Theatres.
One of the Intensives pots will be ring-fenced to support a project that has previously been supported through the Rolling Residencies programme. It is vital that we contribute to a culture where artists in our region are able to meaningfully update and involve Sheffield Theatres in the continued development of their projects.
Evaluation
We will continue to evaluate the impact of these changes and are excited to continue our dialogue with our creative community in the evolution and improvement of our Talent Development programme.

Intensives for this window will take place on week commencing Monday 22 September.
Artists can only apply once to each Application Window, multiple applications to the same window will be ineligible.
Looking to the future: Rolling Residency Window 7 will open in September 2025.
