About
Opening in an empty theatre with just a ‘ghost light’ on stage - the lamp that burns when a theatre is ‘dark’ - the ghosts of former actors emerge. They are ready to play. As they transform into the characters of the story they will be retelling, the magic of theatre begins.
Long ago and far away a King and Queen were placed under a spell. Fertility was disrupted. They called the Bluebell Fairy, but magic comes at a cost and woe betide those who do not keep their promises.
Weaving together plots and characters from ancient folktales, Bluebelle reminds us that life is shaped by the stories we tell and leave behind. It unravels our desires, our weaknesses, and ultimately our strength and ability to care for those born after us.
As one of the UK’s leading visual theatre companies, Theatre Re(The Nature of Forgetting) combines original live music with striking visual theatre to create world class, deeply moving, non-verbal productions about universal human challenges and the fragility of life.
Funded by National Lottery through Arts Council England
Co-commissioned by London International Mime Festival and The Point

A rollercoaster of fear and love... There was a perfect synergy between the live music and the rest of the storytelling. Truly brilliant!'

Intimate, contemporary and haunting at times, Bluebelle is an imaginative piece of visual storytelling that draws you in with all your senses'
'There is something genuinely magical about the company’s new production: it’s got a warm twinkle and touches of wonder.'
'Big on atmosphere...The stagecraft is a delight... And the physical-theatre - grotesque witchery, swirling magicians, questing gallops, lonely wanderings - is the stuff of good storytelling'
Theatrical sorcery, searing music, startling visual tableaux, grace and passion - I hope this fairy tale has many many bookings all over the world’
