On this page you will find answers to some frequently asked questions when applying for a role at Sheffield Theatres.

You don’t have any vacancies / I can’t find any vacancies that are currently relevant to my skill set, how can I find out when vacancies have been posted?
We have a mailing list that we send out emails to when we have job vacancies. You can sign up to this here.
Do you have a work experience programme?
We (almost) have two! You can find further information for both here.
You can join our Learning & Participation team as a Young Person and our HR team are working on updating the work experience programme for those aged 18 years and over.
How can I find out more information about a vacancy?
When you click ‘Apply Now’ on our website, you will be taken to our recruitment portal. The initial page will provide further details about the vacancy, including the job description, application deadline, interview date(s) and how to apply.
How do I apply for a role?
Once you have clicked ‘Apply Now’ on the relevant jobs page, you will be taken to a page with further details about the role and how to apply.
We usually ask for a CV detailing your work experience and qualifications and a cover letter in which you should use the job description and person specification provided to explain why you would be suitable for the role.
We are open to receiving applications in a way that is best for you. This might be a written application, but it could also be by recording a video or an audio file in response. The total video/audio file for your CV or letter of application should be no longer than 7 minutes long.

Why do you need to me to complete Equal Opportunities Data?
We are committed to working towards the provision of equal opportunities in employment. This data is vital to help ensure we are reaching as diverse field of candidates as possible.
This information will be treated in the strictest confidence, with only HR having access and will be used only for statistical monitoring. Your equal opportunities data is not seen by the hiring panel.
Do you offer hybrid and flexible working?
We do! If we consider hybrid and flexible working for a role, we will let you know in the job ad.
Do you consider job sharing for roles?
If we consider job share for a role, we will usually let you know in the job ad but if we haven’t, please ask us by emailing recruitment@sheffieldtheatres.co.uk and we can review your request.
How do I let you know about any access requirements I need for the recruitment process?
We will ask you at each stage of the recruitment process. At the application stage, we include it in our questions section. We take note of anything when inviting you to interview but will continue to ask you in our invitation and confirmation of interview emails.

When will I know whether I have been successful or not?
Unless the application details specify that we are reviewing CVs on receipt of them, shortlisting will take place after the application deadline specified.
We aim to contact successful candidates with reasonable notice for interviews and will do this via email - please check your junk inbox! We will try to contact you a few times, including by phone if the date for the interview is getting close.
If you have not been successful, we will contact you shortly after the closing date with an email.
Can I interview online rather than in person?
We offer interviews using Teams. We specify on the job ad where the location of the interview will be, including if it’s both in person or online but if online is best for you please let us know on receipt of your invitation to interview.
Who will I be interviewed by?
We will send you an email confirming details of your interview and this will include details of who will be on the interview panel.
What type of questions will be in the interview?
We ask a variety questions during our interviews, including the general ‘get to know you’ questions, competency based questions and situational questions.
You may also be asked to complete a task or prepare a presentation.
Can I ask my own questions about the role?
Yes, we would love it if you asked us some questions! We would recommend 2-3 questions but we’re happy to answer any you might have following the interview, just email recruitment@sheffieldtheatres.co.uk.
Will my references be contacted if I apply?
We won’t ask for your referees until we have offered you the role and will contact them on receipt of these unless you have told us to wait as you still need to speak to the person wo’s details you are providing.
How are job offers made to the successful individual?
The hiring manager, or on occasion the lead HR person, for the recruitment campaign will call you to offer you the role. Following this you will receive an email from our HR Team with the conditional offer and further details regarding your terms and conditions.
Do you offer feedback on unsuccessful applications?
Due to the large number of applications we receive, we are unable to always provide feedback for the application stage of the recruitment process.
If you ask for feedback following the interview stage, we will request this from the interview panel and will send it to you as soon as we can.
How long is my application kept?
If your application for employment is unsuccessful, we will hold your data on file for six months after the start date of the successful applicant. At the end of that period, or once you have withdrawn your consent, your data is deleted or destroyed.
If your application for employment is successful, personal data gathered during the recruitment process will be transferred to your electronic HR file and retained during your employment. The periods for which your data will be held will be provided to you in a privacy policy.
