Macbeth, Shakespeare’s psychological thriller of irrepressible ambition, is a potent cocktail of deception, witchcraft and murder. Join us and be drawn into the minds of a couple who will stop at nothing in their unscrupulous crusade for power.
This compelling, large-scale production, directed by Sheffield Theatres’ Artistic Director Daniel Evans, is staged in-the-round.
Our sixteen-strong cast is led by Geoffrey Streatfeild (Spooks) in the role of the Macbeth and Claudie Blakley (Lark Rise to Candleford) as his manipulative and driven wife.

Crucible in the Round
The Crucible is the main producing venue in the Sheffield Theatres complex. On occasion, the Crucible hosts touring work. The Crucible is also the home of the annual World Snooker Championship. For this production, the usual thrust stage performance area has been adapted to feature seating in the round enabling the audience to watch the action on all four sides. No member of the audience is ever further than 22 metres from the stage, and the sightlines are excellent, offering equality of experience across the auditorium.
